1. Purpose Product Manager RnD (also referred to as Product Manager in this document) builds and implements product vision to meet customer, end user and business needs Product Manager owns and manages defined product, product area, system, or component at global level (Product Manager 2 and 3) or local level (Product Manager 1 and 2). Product manager drives the customer value creation by owning the development agenda to ensure also the desired cost levels, quality, reliability, competitiveness, time-to-market, and disturbance-free operational processes in each phase of the product lifetime Product Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining the product area/component over the lifecycle. Product Manager is accountable that required customer value, cost, quality, reliability, competitiveness, market-coverage, time-to-market, and disturbance-free operational processes are met. He/she may lead the team (Product Manager 2 and Product Manager 3). 2. Responsibilities and key activities This section includes the responsibilities and key activities that the Product Manager is either accountable for, or responsible to execute. Responsibilities and key activities Customer focus and value • Ensure solution is innovative, attractive, and delivering value for the customer over the lifetime to ensure customer retention and increase the share of wallet • Run customer co-creation efforts Stakeholders • Partner with BLs to secure business needs are covered and participate in business case realization • Partner with stakeholders and teams to commit to deliver the product vision and objectives Drive product outcomes like quality, safety/cybersecurity, cost and customer and user experience • Own, create, update, communicate and execute through product development program/project the product vision and roadmap which are based on customer, end user and business needs • Balance product roadmap between business needs and technology development Ideation, development, and continuous development • Drive the execution through the program organization (Product Manager 3) • Prioritize in case of conflict • Act as the gate keeper/product owner role in development projects • Manage the product backlog Accountabilities and decisions • Accountable for product innovativeness and value proposition • Accountable for product strategy & vision for a specified product • Responsible for product roadmap creation • Responsible for product performance via KPI’s and for delivering on SLA’s as agreed with stakeholders • Responsible for product lifecycle management • Accountable for project/program results • Accountable for project/program execution (Product Manager 3)   3. Performance measures Performance measures Exact measures to be defined on case-by-case basis. However, following dimensions are applicable. • Product level KPIs & OKRs – e.g., Business case, customer value, quality & cost targets, and schedules • Efficiency of collaboration and planning with business stakeholders – planning accuracy, transparency, up-to-date product roadmaps and product performance data. • Backlog mgmt. – Health of the backlog including work items (features, epics) fully defined fully are up to date (e.g., DoR, DoD and acceptance criteria) • Planning and working with the teams in the Tribes – confidence voting, amount of “Work-in-progress” 4. Competence profile 4.1 Behavioral competences Customer Perspective (KONE Leadership competences): Takes customer´s perspective and focuses on those activities which are critical to customer satisfaction. Keeps up-to-date on current developments in the industry and constantly seeks opportunities for improvement. Encourages others to meet high quality standards of work. Checks own output or that of others to ensure quality standards are met. Consistently delivers work of high quality. Maintains a focus on quality even when under pressure. Organizing and Prioritizing (KONE general competences): Organizes the information and resources required to complete project. Recognizes the urgency and importance of task and obtains clarification where necessary. Approaches tasks in a systematic manner. Prioritizes tasks and projects according to their relative urgency and importance. Organizes and manages their time effectively. Information seeking (KONE general competences): Identifies gaps in existing information and seeks out further detail. Actively seeks out all relevant information. Utilizes all available resources to obtain information. Asks the right questions to obtain the information desired as quickly as possible. Decision Making (KONE general competences): Is committed to own area of responsibility and contributes to the overall business. Identifies issues and makes timely, tough, and objective decisions, also under pressure. Stands by decisions and takes responsibility for them. Takes calculated risks. 4.2 Professional requirements • Experience of leading at least a couple of complex product / Service initiatives and teams with product mgmt. responsibilities, preferably in a global context. • Business and customer acumen • Ability to translate between business and technical viewpoints (especially for product owner roles) • Solid knowledge of product management and continuous development to ensure product attractiveness for customers over its lifetime • Good value creation, selling, marketing and customer relationship skills • Design thinking • Knowledge on how end user and customer data can be utilized in creating additional customer value • Communication and networking skills 4.3 Entry-level requirements • Educational qualifications (e.g., B.Sc., M.Sc.) • At least some years of recent product management experience, for senior roles, preferably in IoT based products and services • Demonstrated experience of working in global context • Experience of leading agile teams and Tribes /programs. 4.4 KONE specific issues – always need to be trained • Fundamentals of elevator, escalator, or smart building industry • Understanding of technologies used at KONE • Knowledge of KONE full chain processes • Knowledge of KONE and KTI operating model, budgeting, and resourcing practices. • Familiarity with industry related codes & standards and their impact to KONE products and solutions
